A child is never born as a street child. At birth every child is born with his rights. Today the child who has not learned to speak well also has to beg for a living. For him, life is a struggle to survive by begging on the way to satisfy hunger. Sun-rain, hot-winter are equal to them. It doesn’t matter to them whether they wear clothes or not. When he wakes up in the morning, instead of having breakfast with his mother’s delicious food, he eats people’s reprimands. When other children go to school to study, they are busy searching for their own food.
In order not to bother for food at least one day, the sisters of Sylhet Wonder Women’s family have marketed themselves and cooked their own food in the morning and distributed it in different streets of Sylhet city.
What a child learns in about 6 years, this education has a huge impact in later life. So at this time if street children are abused, humiliated, illiterate, snatched, begging, acquainted with various criminal acts in society, it can be a great threat to them and to our next generation.
We don’t want street children to be familiar with all these bad things. Each of us has a responsibility and duty towards street children. Moral values towards street children need to be enhanced. Without morality and values, people’s lives are led astray. Children who lack morals and values step into injustice. Children need to be taught ethics.
To that end, we will provide education for them. So that they do not go astray. There are thousands of street children in Sylhet city. They live under the city’s roads, railway station, bus terminal, office premises, Manikpir Tila, Shahjalal Dargah, Alia Math and under the open sky. They are helpless. Can’t eat properly, can’t sleep, can’t wear good clothes. Doesn’t get good behavior.
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, ‘If anyone touches the head of a fatherless child just to please Allah, he will be given many virtues instead of every hair that his hand passes over. So we are working with Save Sylhet family street children.
Children are the wealth of a country. Every child has immense potential. By caring for street children, they can turn from wildness into banyan trees. Care must be taken that they are not neglected by us in any way. So that they can live a good life. Can become a good citizen of the future.
We will continue to work for all street children in Bangladesh. For this, food packs have been distributed for street children by the families of Sylhet Wonder Women at different points of Sylhet. So that they can eat home-cooked food with satisfaction.
But it is not possible to solve this problem just by providing food. So we have taken the initiative of Save Sylhet family that in future we will have one housing and training center in each district where there will be separate arrangements for street children. Hopefully we will be able to fulfill our initiatives.
